  • Box Wood - Gloucestershire

    Box Wood

After three years of negotiations, fundraising and administration, Box Wood was purchased in 2017 on behalf of the community. It will be ours for generations to come.

Box Wood has long been a valued amenity for the people of Box and their families, residents of Minchinhampton Parish and the surrounding area as well as visitors from further afield, but it was once part of the grand wooded gardens of a much larger private estate which included Box House.

  • Box Village Phone Box / Library

    Box Village Phone Box

Box Village Society is pleased to advise you that Box phone box library is now available for use, following its thorough refurbishment. Four volunteers have kindly given their time to clean and scrub the old paintwork and window frames and repaint the cabinet using authentic BT paint. Minchinhampton Parish Council provided four new “TELEPHONE”  Perspex windows and sealant, and Box Village Society has purchased and replaced the old shelving, which had deteriorated beyond repair.

It is hoped that the new shelving can be replaced in due course with a tailor-made cabinet similar to the previous one, using stronger materials. (Any budding cabinet makers out there?) In the meantime, the library is once again open 7x24.
